摘要
9696. Lesser, P. April 24. Tobacco.-In a process and apparatus for separating whole and broken cigarettes and pieces of cigarette, and reclaiming the particles of tobacco from factorv waste cigarette papers, the waste is caused to fall repeatedly through a transverse current of air, which carries away all light pieces of paper and particles of tobacco, into an apparatus where they are brushed against a wire - gauze screen, through which the tobacco alone passes. The waste is charged into a rotary drum A, having internal curved vanes D which lift the charge and allow it to fall repeatedly through a transverse current of air caused by the fan G. A trap E prevents the whole and broken cigarettes &c. from being blown, with the light pieces of paper and particles of tobacco, into the screening-apparatus, which consists of a fixed cylindrical screen M provided with a rotary spiral brush N the bristles N1 of which are set at an angle to the radii. The tobacco is forced through the screen, and the paper is conveyed along the screen and discharged at the end. The drum A is driven from a friction wheel K, which is readily brought into and out of engagement with the drum and the driving-shaft H.
