Alarms, high and low water.-In electric boiler alarms, the corrosion of the electric connexions is obviated by enclosing the apparatus in air-tight chambers, while the floats are loosely fitting to prevent them from sticking. The water chamber a in communication with the boiler is formed with the air chamber b, which is provided with the float c, vulcanite rod f, and contact-disk g. On the float falling, contact is made with the disk h and the alarm is sounded. Stuffing-boxes k, l allow of the entry of the insulated wires to the disks g, h. Similarly, on the water-level rising abnormally, the float c1 in the upper casing causes contact between the disks g1, h1. To allow water to rise in the chambers a, b above the passage m which opens to the boiler, the pipe n, with branches o, o1, r, is fitted.
