Automatic-feed weighers.-An audible alarm or a visible signal or both are attached to the supply hopper of a weighing-scale to warn the weighman if the supply of material in the hopper exceeds a predetermined maximum, in which case the weighman stops the supply and prevents overflowing of the hopper. Within the hopper is a plate 3 hinged on a pin 4 and pivotally connected to a rod 7. The pressure of material in the hopper forces the plate 3 towards the position shown by dotted lines, and a flexible connexion 8 attached to the rod 7 rotates a pulley 9 carrying a semaphore arm 14. The flexible connexion also pulls back and releases the striker 25 of a bell 21. In a modification, the bell may be sounded electrically and may continue to ring so long as the excess supply continues.
