Partitions and baffles in water space.-To promote the circulation in a marine boiler, a hood or curved deflecting plate 10 having depending side plates 12 is fitted in front of the combustion chamber across the full width of the smoke-tubes, and a plate 13 is arranged to extend forwardly at an angle on one side of the hood so as to direct the circulation current across the boiler. A curved deflecting plate 9 extends from side to side of the boiler over the water space at the back of the combustion chamber. The deflecting plates are suspended from the boiler stays by hooked bolts 14. The plate 13 is secured at its upper edge to a bar attached to the stays.
