Supporting.-For preventing the spread of fire along an electric cable and especially along the flexible conductor in connexion with a pendant lamp-holder from a short-circuit within the lampholder or in the conductor immediately above the lamp-holder, an incombustible insulating baffle a having a conical or flat annular spreading portion A is mounted on the wire above the lamp-holder. The baffle may be an integral moulding threaded on the conductor and frictionally held thereon. The bore of the baffle may be sinuous to ensure a frictional grip on the conductor. The baffle may be in two similar parts A, A', as shown in Fig. 5, held together by a spring clip E which may fit within a circular groove on the two parts to ensure the correct positioning of the parts, or the parts may have interengaging recesses and projections for this purpose.
