Adjusting parts of implements; clod-crushing appliances; weeds, destroying. - Relates to a machine for raising clods, crushing them, and returning the crushed soil to the ground and at the same time removing and collecting any weeds. As the machine is drawn over the ground, the clods are raised by prongs 7 on reciprocating rods 3 secured to cranks on the shafts 6 and' 33. The inclination of the rods 3 is adjusted by a handlever 35 pivoted on the shaft 6 and attached to the shaft 33 which operates in a curved slot 36. The rods 3 deliver the clods upon a downwardly-inclined breast or table 8 composed of boards pivoted near their upper ends and supported at their lower ends by springs 12. A grooved or corrugated roller 10 acts in conjunction with the breast 8 to crush the clods which are previously broken by a reciprocating hammer 14 raised by a cam on the shaft 18 and allowed to fall freely. A pair of rollers may be substituted for the roller 10 and breast 8. After leaving the crushing mechanism, the soil and weeds fall upon reciprocating rods 39 constructed and operated in a similar manner to the rods 3. The rods 39 allow the soil to drop upon a jigging screen 43 and thence to the ground. The rods 39 and screen 43 collect the weeds and discharge them into a receptacle 42 which can be tipped by a hand-lever 46 to deposit the weeds at intervals upon the ground. All the moving parts of the machine are driven by chain-gearing from the shaft of the carrying-wheels 1.
