Cranes, arrangement of; mooring.-In a station ship for aerial navigation over the oceans, mast towers B4, B5 behind the smoke stacks carry on their rear corner post derricks C, C' which serve for raising aircraft out of the water and, as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2, have a circular sweep of 270 degrees. A travelling crane is arranged to run fore-and-aft over the enclosed portion of the main deck B6 for handling the aircraft &c. The ships may be anchored by steel cables the weight of which is supported by oil-filled buoys arranged at intervals, or the ships may move about within a short radius by means of their own propelling arrangements.
