Bulkhead doors &c.-A rotary safety communicating chamber or door of the conical type for ships' bulkheads and other partitions comprises an upwardly-tapered rotary conical inner chamber 1 with a single opening 3, and a similar, but fixed, outer chamber 4 with a pair of openings 5, 6, one on each side of a bulkhead &c. The inner member is maintained normally in watertight contact with the outer chamber by springs, as shown, or by a counterweight or buoyant means. The added weight of a man entering the chamber lowers the chamber slightly so that it is then free to be rotated by hand power, or automatically by means of spiral grooves, such as 18, formed in the top and bottom central guide-pins 16, and pins 19 on the chamber engaging therein.
