Violin and like tuning pins.-In order that the strain of tightening a string may be taken up between the bushing and the spindle, the peg is constructed as shown in longitudinal section in Fig. 3. The spindle 6 has a coned portion 4a fitting into the conical space in the bushing 1, and is tightened therein by means of the nut 9 carried by the screw-threaded portion 4b and bearing against the head 8. The cross-pin 11 fits within the narrow slot 10.
