152,474. Latham, W. Aug. 22, 1919. Wind instruments; actions, pneumatic and eleyctro-pneumatic. One tune sheet controls an organ with two or more manuals, each brought into operation by a draw-stop and also into momentary use for the actuation of any one note or chord by marginal tunesheet perforations. Fig. 1 shows a three-manual organ in which the main pneumatics A, one for each note, operate the pallet trackers G. Corresponding to the manuals a, b, c, are subsidiary actions d, e, f, which project catch levers H, pivoted to the pallet trackers, so as to raise the pallets B. Each row of subsidiary actions is connected to a controlling-box K, K1, or K2; the choker valve L is pneumatically controlled by the draw-stop M3, to open connexion with the corresponding subsidiary actions. Thus when a note perforation admits air into tube A1, the primary valve E, on rising admits air into tube J, (J', J2) which raises the purse C1. The collapse of the pneumatic projects the catch lever H, to engage with and raise the pallet B, the tracker G having been raised by the main pneumatic. The " accentor " valve L' of each controlling-box is used to bring a manual momentarily into play. Marginal tune-sheet perforations operate the pneumatic N and by means of the valve P the valve L' opens a connexion to the subsidiary actions ,(the valve being closed). These perforations, together with that for the note to be played on the otherwise sillent manual, are placed slightly before or behind the other notes in the chord. Their length is limited so as not to interfere with succeeding notes, but the note played thereby is sustained until the pallet tracker G is lowered, owing to the catch H1 engaging with the end B1 of the pallet. The catch levers may be electrically operated, the levers Q, Fig. 2, acting as armatures of the electro-magnets R which are joined in parallel. Circuit closers S, Tare respectively controlled by the primary valves E and the valves in the subsidiary pneumatic devices V.
