168,151. Green, L. May 26, 1920. Chairs with separate jaws; chairs; tie-bars.- Tie-bars 5 are secured in place by notches in clips 6 engaging notches 11 in the tie-bars. The clips also engage the rails and are secured by bolts 7 to chairs 1, such as described in Specifications 11951/13, 8514/14, and 8698/14. The tie-bars are also notched at 13 to interlock with slots in the legs 2 of the chair or in uprights 4 secured between the chair legs. The chair base may seat two rails, or may be widened to do so by a bracket 15 riveted to one chair leg. The nuts 9 may be locked by engagement with the uprights 4, or they may have an extension 16 to engage a chair leg, or a bracket 15. The rail seats may be slightly cambered to allow for deflexion under load. Specification 14758/05 is referred to.
