Flooring-blocks; building-blocks, special shapes of.-Hollow blocks for floors, beams, pillars, and' stairs are triangular in section with one or two of the angles 2, Fig. 2, bevelled off and with the remaining angles or angle shaped as a fluted projection 3, with or without an upstanding edge 21. The sides of the blocks may be grooved, corrugated, or of zig-zag shape, and the upper angle may be concave. The blocks may be laid on temporary boards to form a floor as shown in Fig. 3, with reinforcing-bars 7 in the lower zone; or preformed beams, Fig. 5a, may be laid side by side and grouted together. Fig. 7 shows a floor with concrete ribs formed by omitting alternate rows of blocks in the upper course and fill. ing with concrete. Pillars, Fig. 9, are built without using shuttering by placing the blocks around the bars and grouting the whole together. Stairs, Fig. 10, are formed of preformed beams or treads 18 comprising three rows of blocks, the small rear blocks of which are laid last.
