A method of preventing bleeding in the operation of degumming raw silk in presence of silk dyed with vat-dyestuffs

Degumming silk.-Silk fabrics containing raw silk interwoven with silk dyed with vat dye-stuffs are prevented from bleeding during degumming by the addition of a small proportion of a persulphate to the bath. Silk dyed with ciba violet B is boiled with 10 times the quantity of raw silk for two hours in a bath containing per litre 15 grams of Marseilles soap and 2 grams of potassium persulphate.
