摘要

The color characteristic of black silk fabrics and the hand performance of black silk yarn dyed with natural plants are discussed. Three silk fabrics were dyed with seven black dyes extracted from different plants by traditional method in Japan. The color of the fabrics was measured and compared with the blackness of those evaluated by paired comparison. From the result, human evaluation of blackness was affected by surface characteristics of fabric and tinged color of natural dyeing. The impression caused by the fabrics was analyzed by SD method. From the result of principal component analysis of SD method, five principal components, 'gorgeousness' and 'roughness' etc. were obtained. The hand performance of six silk yarns dyed with natural plants was evaluated by method of paired comparisons and compared with the measured mechanical property of those. The silk yarns showed recognizable change in hand performance and mechanical property by natural dyeing.
