Trusses.-A truss pad is approximately pear-shaped and is hollowed at the larger end to form a pneumatic bulb h while the tapered end a is extended and moulded to a shape resembling a cow's horn so as to conform to the hollow of the groin and the fork of the legs. The bulb h may be filled with air and sealed or may be provided with a valve k for forcing in air under pressure, the cover-nut m of the valve k being encased in rubber; alternatively the bulb h may be filled with sponge rubber or like soft material. A bridge d is moulded in one with the body of the pad and forms a slot e through which the body belt is passed, the slot being preferably double-angled so that the pad can be worn on either side of the body. The extension a has a slot b for the insertion of a strap and holes c for rivets or lace. Specifications 21484/03 and 163,470 are referred to.
