Designs, producing.-Jacquard effects in re.lief such as designs, stripes &c. are produced by applying gum or other thickening material to parts of a fabric, and then raising a nap by combing &c. on the parts of the fabric not covered by the gum &c. It is stated that the effects may be obtained in a number of colours and that the process may be combined with known methods of printing or impressing.
