Rods. - Wooden bodies of rod formation, such for example as toolhandles, are reinforced by filling a plastic or fluid metal, alloy or other substance into transverse cavities therein, so as to form transverse bands. An alloy of lead, tin and antimony becoming sufficiently fluid at 400‹ F. is suitable, or an alloy composed of 67 parts of lead, 29.25 parts of tin, 3 parts of antimony, and 0.75 parts of copper may be used. Fig. 3 shows a transverse inlet ring A in a tool handle and Fig. 2 two intersecting cross bars. The cavities may be made use of as initials or other markings.
