Pneumatic collectors.-A catch-pit 1 containing liquid and pulverized household refuse is emptied into a cart 21 by means of suction applied by means of a pipe 29. The sewage rises up a pipe 8 and passes into a perforated receptacle 22 in the cart. When suction is cut off an air valve 30 is opened and liquid drains back to the pit along a pipe 16. Rollers 24 are provided in the cart to facilitate the lengthwise insertion and removal of the receptacle 22. The system may be applied to the collection and disposal of street refuse, the crushing device taking tha form of an ante-chamber to the pit and having an inlet from the gutter.
