An improved sack-holder for facilitating the filling and handling of sacks

Sack - holders. - A frame 1 supporting a sack is mounted on a carriage 2 capable of movement on its support 3, and is supported by a counterweight 4 or a spring. The carriage 2 is guided by rollers 7, Fig. 1, coacting with the support 3, and its height is determined by movable stops 9 to suit sacks of different lengths. The weight 4 is guided on rods 4a or on the support 3. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the frame 11 is mounted on a carriage 12 on links 13 on a bracket 15 on a standard 16, and is supported by a spring 20 or by a counterweight. The standard may be telescopic, or the bracket 15 may be fixed at various heights by means of pins 22. The frame 1 may be pivoted to the carriage 2 so that it can be inclined to facilitate filling or raised when not in use, the angle of inclination being varied by moving the pin 28. The frame may be variable in size, being composed either of adjustably connected portions, or of a pair of spring-pressed pivoted arms. The sack may be secured by folding it over the frame 1, or by means of serrated jaws pivoted to a frame with which they coact so that the grip increases with the weight applied to the sack. The apparatus may be supported on the ground or on a platform, wall, or truck, or may be combined with a weighing- machine or elevator.
