Dobbies.-In a dobby having a cross-border motion of the kind in which two pattern cylinders a, b mounted on an oscillating lever c are adapted to be brought into action alternately through the action of an indicator lever i controlled by a third pattern cylinder j actuated from a balk of the dobby, the T-lever e carries a tumbler lever m having two depending legs m1, m2, one or other of which, under control of a bowl-carrying lever g operated by the indicator lever i, is positioned with respect to an arm f1 or f2 of an inverted T-lever f fast on the shaft d of the lever c, whereby a downward movement of the T-lever e moves one of the cylinders into and the other out of operative position. The tumbler lever is weighted or controlled by a spring so that its leg m1 tends to engage the arm f1 unless it is rocked out of its path by the bowl g1. The legs of the tumbler move the arms f1, f2 sufficiently to allow the motion to be completed by the usual positioning spring, so that no contact of the tumbler with the lever f takes place till the next change occurs.
