Dobbies; stop-motions, measuring.-In measuring-motions for dobbies, the measuring-chain 1a, Fig. 1, passes round a barrel 1, Fig. 2, which is loose on the barrel shaft and which carries a ratchet - wheel 3 adapted to be rotated by a weighted catch 4 adjustably mounted on a pivoted lever 5 disposed above the repeat chain 6, so that, when a lug 6a on this chain passes beneath the lever 5, the barrel is partially rotated. A flat spring 2 is adapted to engage a flat or curved surface on the barrel or a disk thereon. The measuring-chain is provided with one or more lugs adapted to engage, at predetermined times, a two-armed lever 7 in engagement with a lever 8 operating a flexible connexion 9 for drawing down a bar located over the tail of the weft fork to effect a stoppage of the loom. The measuring-chain is also provided with pegs or studs for actuating the usual levers for changing the pattern.
