Cylinder paper machines; pulp, catching and recovering.-Relates to a method of making a joint between a rotary strainer and the containing vat, the method being applicable also in connection with cylinder moulds, save-alls, and pulp - thickeners. A flexibde diaphragm C is secured to the vat by clips D, and its inner edge is attached to a retainer E lined with rubber F, the retainer embracing the lower half of the drum trunk and extending upwards above the level of the pulp. The retainer has upper portions E1 hinged to the lower portion E, and is suspended from a saddlebar G by means of spring-mounted rods e' attached to laterally-projecting levers e1, which engage pivotally with the apposite sides of the retainer.
