An improved means for illuminating the dials of switch board instruments

Dials and scales, illuminating.-Means for illuminating the dials of switch-board &c. instruments consists in providing the instruments a, b with glass fronts c proj.ecting beyond the bezels of the instruments and mounting them in a case d with a front e having apertures f in register with the glass fronts of the instrument. An electric lamp g is mounted in a holder h within the case to illuminate the dials by internal reflection through the projecting edge portions of the glass fronts. When mounted on a vehicle the rear lamp is connected in series with the lamp g, which will serve as an indicator to show whether the rear lamp is functioning.
