Flooring and paving slabs; metal-skeleton slabs.-Concrete slabs for bridge and other flooring are reinforced by an upper and lower grid or grating arranged so that the main reinforcing members of one are at right-angles to those of the other. The slabs are laid on longitudinal beams 13, Fig. 1, with the lower main reinforcing members 2 extending transversely to the beams. The grids may consist of heavy wire netting, Fig. 8, the diagonals of the mesh lying longitudinally and transversely of the slabs. Preferably the grids are formed of sets of parallel bars 1, 2, Figs. 1 and 5, and bent intermediate bars 4, and the upper and lower grids are connected by spacing strips 6. In a modification shown in Fig. 6, certain lower bars 2a are made deeper and extend to the upper bars to which they are connected by hooks 8. In another modification, the lower grating consists of one series of parallel round bars. Transverse bars 14 may be added in both these modifications.
