Improvements in winding bobbins having a variable circumference, particularly for threads of artificial silk

Bobbins, &c.-In a bobbin having a variable circumference and particularly adapted for winding artificial silk, longitudinal rods 2, Fig. 1, are permanently attached to the body-member 1 and are movable radially out of the circumference of the member 1 without longitudinal displacement. The rods 2 are hinged at alternate ends on pins 21 and are accommodated in slots in the body 1, the rods 2 being forced outwardly by members C, D on the supporting spindle B. The outward and inward movements of the rods are limited by pins 22 and extensions 4. In a modification, the rods 2 are eccentrically mounted on pins 23, Fig. 2, and are turnable about an axis parallel to the axis of the member 1. Alternatively, the rods 2 are displaceable by means of flats 24, Fig. 3, sliding in radial guides on the ends of the bobbin. In a further modification, the rods 2 consist of wires having bent ends 25, Fig. 4, passing through guide holes in the member 1.
