Improvements in doctors for calenders, dryers and other rolls

Doctors for paper calendering rolls are provided with a supporting member for the scraper blade disposed substantially parallel with the roll, and with means extending beyond the supporting member and bearing on one face of the flexible doctor blade along a line at a short distance from the edge of the blade, preventing the latter from flexing transversely, and permitting the edge in contact with the roll to remain in the same position with respect to the roll when pressure is applied. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the doctor blade 14 is clamped to the support 10 by means of a plate 13 secured by screws or other means. The blade is thus held closely up to the roll 11. In a modified construction, the blade 14a, Fig. 2, is held by flexible leaves 13a screwed to the support 10.
