Combing-machines.-In a combing-machine of the Heilmann type in which the top-comb approaches the detaching rollers with the nippers and holds a relatively fixed position close to the rollers, the position of the comb is determined by the rollers'themselves, or by parts directly associated with them. The top-comb 15 is pivotally mounted on a cross bar 22 carried bv the usual arms 16 pivoted to the nipper frame. An adjustable spring 25 and set screw 26 control the position of the comb. As the comb moves forward to the detaching-rollers with the nipper, fingers 28 at the ends of the comb plate engage the gudgeons of the detaching-rollers 11 and hold the comb. in a fixed position relatively to the rollers, whilst the nipper completes its forward movement and commences its reverse movement.
