Davits.-A device for locking slewing davits in their inboard and outboard positions comprises an annular L-section rail 1 attached to the deck concentric with the davit post 2 and having slots 3, 4 cut in the upstanding edge guarded by gravity trips 7. The davit is provided at its base with a ratchet 6 which at the extreme positions of the davit over-rides the gravity catch the davit being then brought back to enable the ratchet to enter the slot in the rail.
