[Class 100 (ii).] Imitations of marquetry, rare woods, marbling' and similar decorations are produced on panels of large dimensions made of ply-wood, composition materials, fibrous plaster, or metal, such as steel or aluminium, by coating transfer paper with varnish on which the design is applied, coating the panel with varnish, laying the transfer dry on the panel, and then placing the panel in a heated press so that the two dry layers of varnish adhere to one another, the paper support being subsequently removed. As described, a veneered wood panel is coated with cellulose varnish, transfer paper, coated in the usual way with dextrine and then provided with a coating of the same varnish, is printed with the design, the transfer is placed on the panel, heat and pressure are applied, and, after drying, the paper is damped and removed. The impression may finally be varnished and polished. A small quantity of acetine may be incorporated in the printing-inks to ensure adhesion of the impression to the varnish.
