[Class 39 (iii).] In casting metal around a heating element to form a hot plate, the sole plate of an electric iron, or the like, the apertures in the mould 2 are larger than the terminals 4, 5 passing therethrough and collars, washers, or flanges 9 are provided on the terminals to help in positioning the element and to prevent the escape of metal. Split sleeves 10 are fitted over the terminals and hold the washers against the collars 8. Wedges 13 passing through the sleeves co-operate with metal strips 12 to help in positioning the element in the mould. The element, comprises a tube coiled as a flat spiral.
