[Class 126] A hot-plate 1 for a domestic heating appliance such as a cooking stove is provided on its heat absorbing side with heat collecting ribs or projections 2 of streamlined or aerofoil cross-section. The projections 2 may be coated with a metal such as aluminium to improve the heat transmission. In the form shown the leading edge 4 of each projection, facing the fluid stream 3 is perpendicular to the plate 1 and the trailing edge curves away from the tip of the projection towards the plate 1. The projections may be aligned in adjacent rows as shown in Fig. 3 or they may be staggered. The hot plate may be sprayed with any suitable material such as copper, silver or lead, to resist corrosion.
