413,077. Preparing fuel. HALES, J. S., Fuel Research Station, Blackwall Lane, East Greenwich, London. March 24, 1933, No. 8915. [Class 50.] Small coal, coal dust, &c. is enclosed in containers or coverings formed of fabric or paper in association with a thin layer of heat-resisting or fireproofing material which permits part or all of the contents to cake together under the action of heat and is eventually destroyed or broken down. The fuel bodies are of a size enabling them to be placed in a stove or open grate. The container which may be perforated may be formed of a thin sheet of metal or metal foil such as aluminium reinforced with fabric or paper as a backing ; or the metal may be sprayed upon the fabric or paper. Mixtures of coal and coke or low temperature coke with or without substances such as pitch, tar, &c. may be employed and the fuel bodies may be preliminarily heated partially to cake or carbonize their contents.
