[Class 6 (ii).] A tool for piercing and cutting putting greens, tennis courts, &c. for aerating and cultivating purposes comprises a shaft 1 having at one end a handle 2 and at the other end a member carrying one or more prongs 3 having sharp edges, the prongs being driven into the surface to be treated until the carrying member engages the turf, and the tool being then given a rocking motion to cut one or more approximately sector-shaped slots in the ground. The prongs 3 are of bayonet shape, their front and rear edges and their lower extremities being sharpened. The prongs may be attached to, or made in one with, cylindrical members 6, which are spaced apart by distance pieces 7 and threaded on a non-circular bolt 9 passing through a corresponding hole in a cylindrical enlargement 8 of the lower end of the shaft 1. In a modification, there are two shafts 1 connected together by the handle 2 and the bolt 9.
