442,604. Stud-and-socket fastenings. HARLEY, F. B., 167, Frimley Road, Camberley, Surrey. Sept. 10, 1934, No. 25916. [Class 44] A stud fasteningapplicablegenerally, but particularly for securing covering material to framework, as in aircraft construction comprises a stud 1 with annular recess 3 carried by an attachment plate 2 and adap ted to engage registering holes in a plate 9 and coverplate 10. The stud is secured in the holes by spring jaws 6 engaging recess 3. The head of the stud may be conical &c. so that it may bo snapped into position. The spring is housed between plates 9, 10 and is secured by a rivet 11 passing through loop 4. The ends of the spring, which project so as to be accessible, are crossed at 7 and formed with bent up, spherical, or other finger-pieces 8 which, when nipped together, open the jaws 6. An aperture 18 is also provided so that a screwdriver or other tool may be inserted between the parts 5 of the jaws to open them. As shown, plate 9 is hinged at 12 to an attachment plate 14, this form being applicable to fastening cases, but modifications omitting the hinged plate are described for direct attachment and for securing to a cord or wire.
