Process for the manufacture of stable injectable preparations of the pituitary hormones

Stable preparations of the pituitary hormone, suitable for injection, are prepared by suspending the hormones, or dry extracts containing them, in oils, tri-glycerides, fatty acid esters, or other substantially anhydrous media and sterilizing the product. According to examples: (1) anterior pituitary hormone is suspended in sesame oil; (2) a water-soluble dry powder from the anterior lobe is ground with methyl oleate and tri-butyrin; (3) powder from the posterior lobe is ground with tri-olein.
