[Class 40 (ii)] [Also in Group XX] A combined picture-projecting apparatus and gramophone, particularly for advertising, has a continuously recurring series of pictures, e.g. an endless film supplied to the projector, and a repetition mechanism for the tone-arm of the gramophone. The film 9, Fig. 1, is driven intermittently through the projector 10 by Maltese-cross mechanism 11 driven by a flexible shaft 7 coupled to a motor 3, which also drives the gramophone 4 and the known automatic repeat-mechanism 5. The period of operation of the repeat-mechanism and the playing period of the record are exact multiples of the time of exhibition of individual pictures so that the machines work synchronously indefinitely. The projector may exhibit the pictures in a viewing aperture 12 by mirrors 13, 14, the loud-speaker 15 for the gramophone being mounted behind the mirror 14. The mirror 13 may be mounted on a sliding door which may be opened so that the projector 10 may exhibit the pictures directly on a linen screen. The gramophone and motor are housed in the lower part of a casing 2 access to which is obtained by a door 1. According to a modification, the operation of the repeat-mechanism is controlled by means driven by the picture film driving gear. In this modification the flexible shaft 7, Fig. 2, coupling the gramophone turntable to the film-driving sprocket 8, drives an endless chain 17 carrying a cam 19, which at the end of the series of pictures, projects a plunger 20 in the end of a lever 21 into the path of a cam 24, whereby the lever is actuated to lift the tone-arm 6 and return it to initial position. The film may carry more than one set of pictures and the gramophone may have known record-changing mechanism so that one record may correspond to one set of pictures, or so that different records may accompany the same set of pictures. The loud-speaker may be located at a distance from the casing containing the gramophone and the picture-projecting apparatus.
