[Class 106 (ii)] The interior of the hole to be measured is engaged by two pins 7a adjustably fixed in a boss 2c on a plate 1, and by a pin 4 mounted on a lever 3 pivoted at its centre 3a and having its inner end in contact with the plunger of a dial indicator 6. The pin 4 is removed from contact with the hole by pressing a plunger 11 which rocks the lever 3 against the pressure of the dial indicator spring: Means are provided for correctly aligning the device in the hole and for determining the distance to which it is inserted. These means comprise fingers 8, so pivoted to the plate 1 that they can be turned to engage the outer face of the workpiece. Three sets of fingers are provided, the fingers in each set being of different lengths, a corresponding finger from each set being turned into the operative position 8a. In a modification, pins corresponding to the pins 7a are secured directly to the plate 1 and are not adjustable, the depth of insertion being fixed by the contact of the workpiece with the plate 1. In a further modification, each set of fingers 8 is replaced by a single pin slidably adjustable in the plate.
