The gauge base is held in the insertion hole in the tool holder. This hole runs parallel to the hole in the tool holder used for the cutter (2). The gauge may be at an angle to the boring bar centre line and parallel to the travel of the cutter in the boring bar (1). By changing the slide (11) of the gauge the latter can be used for adjusting the tool which is at right angles to a boring bar. The tool itself is adjusted by a screw arrangement (4) which provides precision adjustment to the single point tool, when the gauge is used for precision adjustment of the bore size produced by the cutter. Alternately a dial gauge may be used, which is mounted on the boring bar (1).
