[Class 120 (i)] [Also in Groups XXVI and XXXV] A device for slowly rotating the cylinder or doffer of a carding engine during the application of a fresh ribbon &c. of card clothing comprises a wheeled carriage 57 supporting a prime mover, preferably an electric motor 3, a driving sprocket 16, geared to the prime mover by reduction gearing 4, a detachable chain 17 for coupling the driving sprocket 16 to a sprocket on the driving gear of the cylinder or doffer shaft, after such sprockets have been brought into alignment by the displacement of the carriage, and a jockey sprocket 18 displaceable in the plane of the chain to tighten the same. The manipulating handle 23 of the sprocket 18 is carried by a plate 20 which pivots about the shaft 25 of the reduction gearing, the plate 20 being fixed in the adjusted position by a bolt 22. The carriage may be disconnected from the chassis 1 carrying the prime mover &c. at the points 8, 9. A clutch may be incorporated in the drive. The Provisional Specification describes a 3-wheeled carriage, the third wheel being attached to a bell-crank lever to enable that end to be lowered to the floor.
