[Class 34 (i)] A hollow roller for supporting a belt or band conveyer comprises a tubular cylindrical shell 1, e.g., a steel tube, and end walls 3 locating bearings 5 for roller shaft 4, each wall 3 being secured wholly or partly within the end of the shell 1 by one or more self-tapping screws 10 which extend through axially-directed holes 12 in the end wall near to the periphery thereof and penetrate a part of the inner surface of the shell surrounding said end wall. The ends of the shell may be socketed at 2 to form seats for axial flanges 8 on the walls 3, and the latter are provided with circumferential flanges 9 to abut against the shell as shown. The holes 12 are preferably bored to a diameter intermediate the body and external diameters of the screws 10.
