[Class 98 (ii)] Diazotype material or a developer therefor contains as azo-coupling components an N- containing heterocyclic base bearing in alpha- or gammaposition to the K-atom a CH2-group activated by an adjacent acyl- or CN-group, or an N- containing heterocyclic quaternary salt bearing the reactive CH2-group attached to the quaternary N-atom. Couplers specified are : 2- cyanmethylbenzthiazole, 4 - (p - toluyl)- 1 : 3 : 5 - oxodiazol - 2 - acetone, and N- acetonylpyridinium chloride. In example 1, exposed paper-coated or impregnated with tetrazotized N : N1 - bis - (4 - amino 2 : 5- diethoxyphenyl) - adipic acid diamide is developed with a solution of 2-cyanmethylbenzthiazole, sodium benzoate, sodium formate, and tartaric acid. In example 2, paper is coated with a solution of diazotized p-diethylaminoaniline, tartaric acid, aluminium sulphate, phloroglucinol, and N-acetonyl-pyridinium chloride, and is developed by ammonia vapour. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the use as coupling components of organic compounds containing reactive methyl, methylene, or methenyl groups, e.g. 2-mothylbenzthiazole ethobromide, # : # - dimethyl - 2 - vinylbenzoxazole ethobromide, nitromethane, N-methyl-2-methylenebenzthiazole, N - methyl - 2 - methylene - 1 : 2 - dihydroquinoline, acetylacetone, cycanacetauilide, acetoacetic ester, 2-methylindole, benzoxazole-2-pyruvic acid, ethyl acetylpyruvate, and alpha-phenylacetoacetic ester. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
