563,891. Automatic regulators. STONE & CO., Ltd., J., and NIXON, L. R. Feb. 19, 1943, No. 2773. [Class 38 (iv)] A carbon pile type regulator having a hingedly-mounted armature acting against a spring that compresses the pile and having an adjustment for the pile in relation to the armature, is fitted with a visual indicator-that shows whether the pile is correctly set. The armature a is attached to a casting d hingedly supported by resilient strips e, eSP1/SP and attached by flexible links g to the pressure plate j which is mounted for linear motion on a bar m sumpported by bow springs mSP1/SP. The compression spring k is attached to one hinge member dSP2/SP of the casting d and the other hinge member dSP1/SP carries a counterweight l on which the indicating device n is provided. This consists of a pointed plate co-operating with a curved frame member o on which a line oSP1/SP is marked at the factory corresponding with the position of the arrow on the plate n when the pile is correctly set. If the setting of the pile is disturbed by wear or replacement, a screw-ring q is turned to move a pressure plate p at the rear of the pile in relation to the prate j until the indicator plate n is restored to its original position. Specification 548,388 is referred to.
