[Class 38 (v)] In a thermal switch for controlling a vulcanizing machine, a bimetallic strip 1 on the soleplate 2, on heating, raises an insulating rod 4 to separate contacts 5, 6, the rod being held in its raised position by a manually-releasable spring-plunger 17 which engages a recess 20 in the rod. The strip 1 has an extension 21 engaging a pivoted indicator 24. A screw 7 on the contact 5 is adjusted so as to bear on the rod 4 at the desired temperature of operation of the switch.
