摘要

Thermal boundary conditions influencing the electrical behavior of ferrite thermal-switching devices are determined by comparing experimental results with cylindrical model calculations. The results show that in these devices, radial heat flux in the pre-threshold region is controlled by radiation boundary cooling, but that the post-threshold flux is governed by current channelling (filament formation) and leads to a source-limited flow condition. The results serve to emphasize the importance of using realistic boundary conditions in the analysis of thermal switching devices. (Author)
