A process of preparing complex mixtures in the form of 'miscible' concentrated solutions which on dilution with water form stable emulsions

Complex mixtures in the form of concentrated solutions or dispersions which on dilution with water form stable and homogeneous aqueous emulsions are prepared by adding the various components either as such or dissolved or dispersed in non-aqueous solvents in succession to the mixture and after each addition adding soaps and/or soap-forming acids and/or alkalis in such proportions as are required to prevent and restore the disturbance of the miscibility which would normally be due to occur on addition of water. Examples describe the incorporation of mineral oils, copper naphthenate, nicotine, dinitrocresol, D.D.T. derris, pyrethins, lead arsenate, mercury arsenate and sulphur in a single complex solution which when emulsified is employed as a plant spray and the incorporation of drying oils, resins, copper naphthenate, lead oleate, mercury resinate and various inorganic pigments in a single complex mixture which when emulsified with water is employed as an anti-fouling paint for ships' bottoms.
