Stabilizing device for reserve records in talking machines with automatic change of records

In an automatic gramophone of the kind in which records are supported on a stepped centre-post, the records are steadied thereon by pressure of a device in the form of a parallelogram suspended from an arm 7 which carries the mechanism for releasing records one by one from the centre post. Three sides of the parallelogram are formed by, hinged plates 40, 41, 44 suspended at pivotal points 42, 43 in the arm 7, a torsion spring being provided to hold the plate 44 against the records 6. An extension 49 of the plate 44 serves to operate a switch-lever 50 to stop the gramophone, by means not shown, after the last record has fallen to the turntable. The initial position of the pick-up on the record is set for a 12 inch diameter record, by mechanism not shown, under the control of a feeler 37 which is pivoted on a common axis 38 with the lever 50 and is tripped by 12 inch records when falling to the turntable. Records are released from the centre-post by a lever 11 operated by longitudinal motion of a bar 15 under the control of an eccentric cam 21 on a shaft 23.
