A leaf-spring liner for insertion between superposed spring leaves comprises a web of pliable synthetic material exercising an inherent spring damping action on the assembly and including integral side flanges extending in both directions substantially normal to the web to seal the side edges of the spring assembly. In the arrangement shown, each liner comprises a body portion 32 having integral side flanges 34 which fit snugly the side edges of spring leaves 10. The root portions of the flanges are slightly relieved, to ensure that the flanges do not " gap open " when the spring is under load. The liner may be produced in strip form, by extrusion, compression or injection moulding, or casting, from synthetic plastic such as solid polyethylene type material or a synthetic linear condensation polyamide, such as Nylon. Alternatively the liner material may be formed initially in flat strip form to project beyond the edges of the spring leaves and then the flanges are formed by the strip being heat-softened and ironed inwardly at the projecting edges. In other arrangements, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the liner is shaped for use between parabolic and grooved section leaves respectively.
