684,267. Trueing grinding wheels; diamond tools. PRECISION DIAMOND PRODUCTS, Ltd. June 1, 1951 [June 1, 1950], No. 13718/50. Classes 60 and 124. Abrasive wheels are trued by a tool in which a tip 32. Fig. II, of diamond or other hard material is secured to a mount 31 associated with indexing means which limit the indexing adjustment of the mount to alternate indexing stations. The indexing means includes a ring 50 secured to the mount by a lock nut 53 and provided with a peripheral series of holes 52 all except two of which are normally covered by a housing 16, Fig. III. To index the mount, a key (not shown) is inserted in the hole appearing in an entry notch 24 and the mount is turned to bring this hole opposite an exit notch 25. In travelling from one notch to the other the key rides along an edge 26 which causes an axial displacement of the mount against the pressure of a spring 56. This displacement frees the ring 52 from a pin 60 which is adapted selectively to engage a circular series of depressions corresponding with the holes 52. The pin is also loaded by the spring 56 and serves to locate the ring at each indexing station. The exit notch is shaped to necessitate withdrawal of the key before further movement of the mount can take place. A screw 43 engaging two clamps (not shown) firmly secures the mount in its housing after each indexing adjustment. A stem 12 is adapted to be engaged by a fixture (not shown) so that the tool is inclined to the surface to be trued. Five, seven or nine indexing stations are provided. The diamond is secured in a metal matrix 33.
