Class 142(iv) A manuallyoperated device for delivering drop wires 48 one-by-one comprises retainers 19, Fig. 2, operated by a button 42. The drop wires 48 are stacked on a pin 15 with their recesses 53 on the left and right sides alternately, so that retraction of a retainer 19 releases a drop wire, whilst the detent 24 of the other retainer holds the remaining drop wires. Instead of recesses 53, the drop wires may haveprojections, or alternate wires may be laterally or angularly displaced relative to the others. Each retainer 19 is operated by a plunger 20 when a lever 25, Fig. 4, is raised by a pin 36 on a disc 35 rotated by depressing the button 42. Bristles 9SP1/SP ensure prompt release of a drop wire when the retainer 19 is actuated.
