Apparatus by which a person may obtain a view behind him comprises three reflectors arranged one above the other, the first reflector receiving light from the rear and reflecting it to an erecting reflector when it reaches the eye by way of a third reflector. By using the device in conjunction with a plane mirror placed behind the observer the latter may obtain a view of his own back. The device is particularly intended for use by hairdressers and dressmakers. As shown, the device comprises mirrors 3, 2 and 1 arranged as shown in a casing and reflecting a light beam as from a plane mirror 4 in the path b, c, d to reach the observer's eye. The auxiliary mirror 4 may be attached to the apparatus which may be supported in the hand by a handle 33, supported in a sliding tubular support mounted in a universal joint on the ceiling, similarly slidably supported on a carriage movable on wheels or supported in a cupboard or other article of furniture.
